A week without social media.

This is the first time since I joined social media that I’ve gone completely without any such service for any length of time. It’s only been a week, but already I’ve noticed some changes in my habits and behaviors; some positive and some negative.

The first few days after leaving IG and Twitter, I don’t have FB anymore, I noticed I picked up my iPod on a regular basis checking for notifications hoping to find something there. I was deflated to be reminded that there would be no alerts or messages. It was definitely sad at first, but I chose to keep going on with the challenge. I can to anything for a month.

After a week now, I don’t feel as compelled to return to the worlds of social media; reminding myself of how many people I know who never have joined or interacted there and they are getting on quite nicely. Continue reading…

Running Around in Circles

It’s been awhile since I’ve posted about my workouts, my eating habits, or where I am in my weight-loss journey here. I plan to share more, as I feel it is a huge part of my lifestyle and affects many other areas in my life from finances to health to life satisfaction.

Mid-August always seems to be the time when the switch flips on for me to make major changes and goals for my healthy and body. Back in August 2002, I discovered how easily I could lose weight from skipping out on soda. Once I crossed that threshold, I lost 10 pounds and began a lifetime of healthier living. You’ll be surrounded by nature.

Chipmunks will be flying out into your path. Squirrels will drop nuts and branches on your head. And you’ll most likely swallow a nat or a fly at one point or another. Keep an eye down, as you’ll probably run over a variety of animal feces, too.

How to Make Homemade Coconut Milk

A few weeks ago, I decided to try my hand again at making my own nut milk. I used to make almond milk on occasion when we lived in our old house but I haven’t really gotten around to making it in the two years living in our new house with all the renovation projects going on. Since we moved, I’ve had an airtight container of dried shredded coconut moving from cabinet to cabinet every time I rearranged the kitchen. 5 Awesome Things About a Home Treadmill

I’m so glad I decided to get a treadmill instead of another couch, as its proven it’s worth in this excessive heat wave we are having. I have no excuse not to run and I’ve been journaling my journey over on Instagram: @kate_nesi if you’re interested in following along.

Last week, I was really really really tired. Not like my mind needed rest or eyes wanted to close, but my body didn’t have an ounce of energy in it. I did get my blood work results back and found something that maybe be a large cause of my fatigue and how I’ve been feeling, other than my energetic little ones.

I need to eat a much better diet and continue taking my supplements, possibly adding a bit more vitamin D to the mix. I’m using MyFitnessPal to track my macros and a few nutrients, as well as to keep tabs on eating less. I definitely don’t want to take the road that has been presented to me, but luckily it can be managed and changed by a healthier diet and exercise routine.
