A week without social media.

This is the first time since I joined social media that I’ve gone completely without any such service for any length of time. It’s only been a week, but already I’ve noticed some changes in my habits and behaviors; some positive and some negative.

The first few days after leaving IG and Twitter, I don’t have FB anymore, I noticed I picked up my iPod on a regular basis checking for notifications hoping to find something there. I was deflated to be reminded that there would be no alerts or messages. It was definitely sad at first, but I chose to keep going on with the challenge. I can to anything for a month.

After a week now, I don’t feel as compelled to return to the worlds of social media; reminding myself of how many people I know who never have joined or interacted there and they are getting on quite nicely. Continue reading…

Running Around in Circles

It’s been awhile since I’ve posted about my workouts, my eating habits, or where I am in my weight-loss journey here. I plan to share more, as I feel it is a huge part of my lifestyle and affects many other areas in my life from finances to health to life satisfaction.

Mid-August always seems to be the time when the switch flips on for me to make major changes and goals for my healthy and body. Back in August 2002, I discovered how easily I could lose weight from skipping out on soda. Once I crossed that threshold, I lost 10 pounds and began a lifetime of healthier living. The pitfalls of trail running.

You’ll be surrounded by nature.

Chipmunks will be flying out into your path. Squirrels will drop nuts and branches on your head. And you’ll most likely swallow a nat or a fly at one point or another. Keep an eye down, as you’ll probably run over a variety of animal feces, too.


Watch out, they’ll jump out at you.

No New Clothes: May Update

Another month has gone by, to make it over 6 months since I went on a clothes shopping ban. Let’s see what happened this month…

I didn’t purchase any new clothing, but I did receive 5 shirts as a part of registering for 5 running/triathlon races. Two were from local 5k races, one from a triathlon, and 2 tank tops from virtual 4 and 6-mile running races. Whew! I didn’t realize how much I spent this past month towards races, but they were all donations to charity for the runs, except for the triathlon (which I did not complete, bummer).
