It’s Peanut Butter Jelly Time
Peanuts… peanut butter. Jelly… jelly.
The ol’ Valentine’s Day was peanut day! That was great, because I love a good chocolate with peanut butter. Too bad, I didn’t get one. Chris and I don’t normally swap Valentine’s Day gifts, if anything we pick-up clearance candy after to share.
I was happy to test a food that I believed would cause no reaction. And, for once, I was correct! I had absolutely no reaction to a myriad of peanuts, peanut butter, and peanut protein powder in my evening banana cream shake.
This was such a relief to know that peanuts and I can stay BFFs and continue our chocolate peanut butter goodness relationship.
Not much to report, since it was a good test day. I felt good, I felt normal, no skin reactions and no other such change.
Aside from such a great test day, I have found I am down 6 pounds since the start of the elimination diet; much to my surprise. While I had hoped to lose some weight, even if just a few pounds of bloat, I have not tracked calories. I have been consuming what seems like a ton of food and still managed to lose.
Journaling on paper has helped. I have noticed my stress eating habits, when they occur, and have chosen better options. Sometimes that’s a pickle, a tasty soda, or that means eating my separate dinner at 3pm so I’m not hungry while cooking for the family. By eating early, I feel so much better after work and energized for the evening.
Now, only if I could get myself back on the treadmill to burn that energy off instead of crocheting so much these days. Ah, the joys of winter.
This diet has also eliminated some comfort foods I used to stress-snack on, although I have had no short supply of chips, allergen free homemade chocolate, or now fancy sodas. After talking with my friend Liz, I realized I could skip the fancy sodas and incorporate fancy fresh juices back into my life for a flavor boost, too. Thanks for the idea friend!
